First Patient Dosed β The Story Moves from Promise to Execution
By Financial Journalist: Elric Langton | 13 July 2026
I have a financial Interest in Poolbeg Pharma β Again.
Poolbeg Pharma has crossed an important line.
Todayβs announcement that the first patient has been dosed in the POLB 001 TOPICAL clinical trial does not, by itself, validate the investment case. It does, however, move the Company from preparation into clinical execution, and for a small-cap biotech, that matters.
Poolbeg is no longer simply telling investors what POLB 001 might become. It is now generating evidence to determine whether the asset has genuine partnering value. That makes the next few months important.
The key line is simple enough: the first patient has now been dosed in the TOPICAL trial.
The trial is evaluating POLB 001 as a potential preventative therapy for Cytokine Release Syndrome, or CRS, in patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma receiving teclistamab, an approved bispecific antibody supplied by Johnson & Johnson at no cost to Poolbeg.
That Johnson & Johnson supply point remains notable. It does not mean J&J is endorsing Poolbeg commercially, and investors should avoid over-reading it. But it does indicate that the study has sufficient clinical relevance to secure access to a key approved therapy without Poolbeg bearing the drug cost itself.
More importantly, the dosing of the first patient starts the clock on the clinical evidence investors have been waiting for. Poolbeg says interim data remain on track for late summer 2026. That puts the company firmly inside the data window.
